Reporting live from the medal round (well, there’s only one round) of the women’s 3m springboard diving. The United states has a team in Kelci Bryant, who dove with Ariel Rittenhouse in Beijing and finished fourth by just two points. Her new partner is Abby Johnston, with whom she has only been monagamous for the past year or so.
Still, the Americans are doing really well. Headed into the third dive, they are in second with 105 points behind China’s 106.8.
Sorry folks, in my excitement over the United States winning its first women’s synchronized diving title, I somehow managed to delete the rest of my blog post. So, cat’s out of the bag — Bryant and Johnston took the silver with 321.9 points, ahead of Canada’s 316.80. China, the favorite for good reason, won the gold with 346.20 points.
