Ariel Rittenhouse, the Santa Cruz native who competed in synchronized diving in Beijing in 2008, will try to reach her second Olympic Games this year. Rittenhouse has been invited to compete at the U.S. Olympic diving trials, which will be held June 17-24 at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash. She will be vying for a spot as a 3-meter diver.

Rittenhouse dove alongside Kelci Bryant (Minnesota) in Beijing and earned a fourth-place finish in the 3-meter synchronized diving event. After a two year stint at USC, Rittenhouse joined the Florida State Seminoles with an immediate impact and a comeback in mind. Rittenhouse grabbed the silver on the 1-meter springboard and finished fourth on the 3 meter springboard at the ACC Championships before making an appearance at the NCAA Championships.
